F.O.G – Absurdist Peace 7″

“Hailing from Te Ika-A-Māui, Aotearoa – FOG play a refreshingly explorative yet solemn take on UK anarcho punk. Although, seamlessly fusing the dreary edge, bleak tone and introspective sensibilities of post-punk without falling victim to the innate characteristics of the genre tropes. Furthermore, the 4-piece outfit tastefully incorporates elements of drone noise and sampling into the mix; complementing the overall atmosphere and nature of the recording.

Breathing an air of familiarity both past and present, the band cultivate a sound that is fresh and uniquely their own in the contemporary context of international anarcho/peace punks ongoing revival. Bringing to mind the sonics of old stalwarts like OMEGA TRIBE, POLITICAL ASYLUM and THE MOB. Evoking modern energies like INSTITUTE for its contagious playfulness and melancholy that embraces the innovative yet off-kilter tendencies at play in the sound of STRAW MAN ARMY. Whilst also displaying a similar feel and aesthetics to current projects like HYSTERIC POLEMIX and EPAULET. With all of that in mind, take a listen and see for yourself.

Amongst other local excitement, FOG belong to a new wave of Aotearoa bands that are blending the bygone and contemporary sounds of international punk laced with their own touch and flavour. Keep your eyes peeled… These bands are only just getting started.
