And blast they do but rather than be confined to a sub-genre pigeonholes like “power violence” or “hardcore”, GAOLED has craftily melded an intricate tapestry of extreme influences to create a unique stamp on the violent punk milieu. With hissing guitars, pained guttural growls and pummeling drums as backbone, “Bestial Hardcore” tackles hard and personal subjects like “intrusive thoughts, fixations and paranoid delusions arising from psychotic episodes, dreams and manic states” but channels them “in a way to reflect and potentially move forward through their expression”. By taking control of our demons and being open to decimating past barriers, we can harness a healthier way forward.
